In addition, these have the 100th Anniversary Leica logo on the top plate.

Supposedly there are 100 such cameras made for Thailand. They are being sold by the official Leica dealers for 245,000 THB (7,424 USD).

The market prices of the M and M9-P have also been adjusted down accordingly.

Thanks for the info Mark. I still see the M240 listed at 280K as usual at avcamera and fotofile. Do you know the new price?

You can contact Oliver Fotofile, the store manager for Fotofile-Leica store, on Facebook, where he sometimes advertises the store's specials.

On Dec 10, there was an ad for a whole bunch of new M9 and M9-P for 90,000 and 130,000 THB.

They still have a good supply of black and chrome 100th Anniversary M-P's for 245,000 THB.

From my personal communication with Oliver, the 100th Anniversary M-P is offered at a special price because Fotofile bought all 100 that Leica made. He kind of implied that they were made especially for Thailand. It also could be that Leica made them as an extra lot, and Diethlem, the Leica Thai distributor, then bought them all and sold them to Fotofile, one of the larger Thai Leica dealers. But, my guess would be as good as your guess.

Oliver intimated that the 100th Anniversary M-P would be more expensive than the regular M-P, although it has a higher published list price. I am not sure what the actual selling prices are since I did not ask. I saw one mint, barely used chrome M-P advertised but without a listed price on Fotofile (it was previously owned by someone who traded it in to Fotofile for the 100th Anniversary version). Also, mint, used M's are sometimes advertised at 158,000 THB. Also, mint, used MM's are also sometimes advertised at 188,000 THB. Usually, this means that new ones are about 10-15 % higher.

Cheers.

I am surprised how many reporters dislike the frame preview lever. I have liked it and used it since I first bought my M3, through M6, M8 and M9. I realise the M240 needs power for the lever to be effective; in practice I have the camera fired up and ready to go anyway. I do not walk around using my camera purely as a picture framing device.

It's purely a personal thing. I don't think there's a right or wrong. On my M9's I loved the lever. On the 240 the extra step of turning the camera on aftr pulling it fro the bag is an annoyance.

Mind you, I would also prefer the older mechanical framelines, as well.
