algrove Posted January 23, 2018 Share #81 Posted January 23, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone know if the lens formula changed between the first 80/1.4 lenses produced in 1980 (#11880) and the last of the series the ROM 80/1.4 lenses (#11349)? analogfilms Posted January 30, 2018 Share #85 Posted January 30, 2018 Thanks Pip! Foolishly sold one a few years back and regretted it since! Now the prices are kinda nuts! Took me awhile to find this late sample at a decent price!
Daniel81 Posted April 30, 2020 Share #86 Posted April 30, 2020 I just bought one in mint condition - to arrive in a week or two - for my SL (601) . . . . can't wait.
james.liam Posted April 30, 2020 Share #87 Posted April 30, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) The 75 Summilux, nearly identical optical formulas, is more versatile as it can also be used on the M's as well.
OR120 Posted May 21, 2020 Share #88 Posted May 21, 2020 May I ask as I'm interested in this 80 or 75 summilux for my M - can't I use either with my M + EVF?

You can use either, but to use the 80/1.4 on an M as well as Live View/EVF you'll also need the R to M adapter. The 75/1.4 of course you can use without Live View/EVF - IF you can focus it wide open. I've had both (the 75 at the moment) and love them both - the 80 is much cheaper!
james.liam Posted May 22, 2020 Share #90 Posted May 22, 2020 (edited) Also the R adapter M will add more length to an already larger barrel lens compared to the 75. Sorry, Also meant that the 80 Summilux can also be used in the M (rather than the 75) and makes it more versatile. Just very bulky.
