ggetzin Posted May 10, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 10, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I ordered a tri elmar in March. Neither Leica nor the retailer will give an estimate on when it will arrive. Does anybody have any idea? When I was at the M8 workshop in March, there were people who had ordered in December and had not yet received.

enboe Posted May 11, 2007 Share #3 Posted May 11, 2007 I sent in my paperwork for my 30%-off WATE in late January or February. The confirmation came back from Germany, but no lens yet from Leica USA. I did send an email to Leica USA a month ago, but they did not respond. This leaves me with only one option, wait for the WATE, but it does make me feel a little better knowing I'm not the only one. Thanks.
ericperlberg Posted May 11, 2007 Share #4 Posted May 11, 2007 Last week I heard from Leica that my 30% off 3e was backordered and would be shipped in approx 6 weeks. Don't know if that's specific to 30% off lenses or a general comment on availability.

ericperlberg Posted May 12, 2007 Share #6 Posted May 12, 2007 I'll add that Leica only confirmed my paper work last week (first week of May). So 6 week delivery for early May orders, at least in my case.
dempski Posted May 12, 2007 Share #7 Posted May 12, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) A couple weeks ago at my local camera shop in Houston, the sales person said the Leica rep told her that there were 80 on back order, and only 5 a month come in. I don’t know how big a district the rep has, but the math is bad any way you look at it. Fortunately, I bought mine under the loaner program, and they let me keep the loaner until the new one comes. boilerdoc Posted May 13, 2007 Share #8 Posted May 13, 2007 I ordered the 30% off WATE in December! Nothing yet. Going to be in Europe next month and wanted to use it, but doubt I'll have it. Why Leica? Why? Anyone rent these things? Steve
pelikan1931 Posted May 17, 2007 Share #9 Posted May 17, 2007 leica produces lens in blocks, and has a smallish production capacity, so you have to wait.
matt736 Posted May 17, 2007 Share #10 Posted May 17, 2007 I can re-confirm what Pelikan has just said, Leica is only producing the lenses in blocks and a dealer in London told me yesterday that he is waiting for the WATE's,TE,28f2 asph and the new 28 f2.8 asph as well . A new problem that has occured because of the M8 is there is hardly any good second hand M lenses available,he said that anything that he gets in goes before he an advertise it. So the upshot is the M8 is stripping all the dealers of new and old M lenses and he advised me think twice before selling any lenses as it my be twice as hard to replace what you have sold , Cheers Matthew.
