GRBrown Posted November 5, 2014 Share #1 Posted November 5, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) My R-M adapter latches easily onto R lenses. It is a struggle to remove it. Any suggestions for the best way to remove it? I found nothing in the brief instructions that came with the adapter.

1234 Posted November 5, 2014 Share #2 Posted November 5, 2014 Are you pressing the "silver" colored release button firmly to the rear until it clicks loudly prior to rotating the lens to detach it? Harry
GRBrown Posted November 5, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted November 5, 2014 Yes, I'm pressing the silver button. It takes a hard press. Perhaps it needs more actuations to loosen up?
mmradman Posted November 6, 2014 Share #4 Posted November 6, 2014 Yes, I'm pressing the silver button. It takes a hard press. Perhaps it needs more actuations to loosen up? I have two original R-M adapters and both are easy to operate. I can't see what possibly could go wrong. Even if spring holding the release button is broken or removed locking pin would drop and make R lens not secure. To operate - press and push down & hold (towards M mount), while holding release button down rotate R lens to remove.
1234 Posted November 6, 2014 Share #5 Posted November 6, 2014 I perhaps used the wrong word "press" because it actually is a sliding movement. (You are pressing sideways.) The release button slides parallel to the flat foot of the mount in the direction of the bayonet fitting which mates with the camera.
GRBrown Posted November 7, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted November 7, 2014 To 1234 and mmradman: Thank you for your responses to my question. Slide is the key word. Sliding the silver button away from the lens when one wants to uncouple the lens from the adapter is the key to success. My thumb no longer has a dent from pushing on the silver button without simultaneously sliding it away from the lens.
johnbuckley Posted November 9, 2014 Share #7 Posted November 9, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) If it makes you feel any better, I had the same problem, though the adaptor was defective, and it was only completely by accident I discovered it was a slide motion. I don't think it came with the proper instructions... In any event, you are not the only one so confused!
hunterspoint Posted November 17, 2015 Share #8 Posted November 17, 2015 I have been trying to remove my adaptor also. So far have not been successful.
jaapv Posted November 17, 2015 Share #9 Posted November 17, 2015 This must be a time warp. All Leica R adaptors/extenders etc. have this sliding button
