wazuluwazu Posted October 26, 2014 Share #1 Â Posted October 26, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I'm new to this forum and I'm seeking some experienced advice. Â I recently purchased a Leitz Summaron 35 f3.5 with goggles from eBay at a very reasonable price - for a reason - the rear element has considerable haze/fog that is noticeable on every image. Â I've been reading on the web that it is possible to clean the glass and even to DIY it: Â Removing Haze from Leitz 35mm F/3.5 Summaron Lens - DJCPHOTO.COM Â Now, I've tried going ahead with the instructions provided by the link above but I'm finding it impossible to remove the rear lens retaining ring. In addition, I have unscrewed the focusing helicoid and I think I have not been able to put it back together correctly. Â Apart from sending my lens to more competent hands, does anyone have other advice or guidelines for cleaning the lenses (and putting the focusing helicoid back correctly...) myself? Â Thanks for your time

microview Posted October 26, 2014 Share #2 Â Posted October 26, 2014 Sending it to 'more competent hands' is surely the better way to proceed? In the UK Malcolm Taylor does a fine job if you discuss the problem with him beforehand. See also Customer Forum > Repair Specialists for other countries across the world. robleicaaizu Posted July 20, 2016 Share #3  Posted July 20, 2016 You do not need to remove the rear retaining ring. Remove the "Summaron 35mm 1:3.5 ...." ring and the ring that holds down the front lens. Once this is done, you have to gently pry out the front lens. Using a hair dryer to apply some heat will probably help to dislodge the front lens. Once the front lens is out, you can clean the inner lens by opening the aperture.
