An experiment in shooting a starry night

This past summer in Ecuador, I spent a couple of nights out in the Ecuadorian Amazon. No tv, no internet, no cell phone service. The nights were spectacular, so I decided to experiment with taking long exposures. As I have no tripod, I set the camera on a chair and pointed it upwards. This is a 30 second exposure. Post-processed in Lightroom to bring out the Milky Way.

Impressive, I'm surprised you didn't get star trails with such a long exposure.....

Thank you! I was surprised about that too. I experimented with 15 second and 30 second exposures. Any longer and I think I would have started getting some (minor) star trails.
