Advertisement Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Hi colonel, Take a look here Maybe one day Leica will allow us to specify our own camera ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
tomasis7 Posted September 23, 2014 Share #2 Posted September 23, 2014 very good idea! (no kidding) it is handbuilt camera, after all. Same with other segments of market there is increasing tendency of customization for own personal liking.

mjh Posted September 23, 2014 Share #5 Posted September 23, 2014 This is just a matter of how much one is willing to pay for it … It would probably include a roundtrip to Leica’s factories in Portugal and Germany so you could watch your bespoke M being assembled. colonel Posted September 23, 2014 Author Share #7 Posted September 23, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) i modified it make less sarcastic and more realistic for camera builders. actually I wasn't being sarcastic I think with careful design of the production line and modularization of future designs this could be possible for only a small premium and would be another USP for Leica
tomasis7 Posted September 23, 2014 Share #8 Posted September 23, 2014 actually I wasn't being sarcastic I think with careful design of the production line and modularization of future designs this could be possible for only a small premium and would be another USP for Leica ok it sounds good re your whole list. That would be one strong point of Leica brand since many users use Leica a few years and rarely change the brand. Though for resale value, it might take some beat with too many options that dont suit for available buyers. Recently car manufactures switched to modular platform building to save costs. That might give idea for future. I made the list to give realistic proposition to Leica if they ever read here. It has happened before for M6/M8.2 ala carte if im not mistaken except sensor/lcd screen.

Double SD card slot or not: yes/no 10. Hybrid VF: yes/no 11. Designation: Front red dot / front black dot / typeface on top 12. Light window or LED illuminated ? 13. Sim card 4G/5G slot: yes/no 14. Top info LED with battery meter: yes/no 15. Flat top design or step top design 16. White gloves or fingerless dirty torn woolen east end gloves ? I like the idea, and it shouldnt be too hard to implement But rather than building and boxing a camera, a tech has to slow down, and build a one off camera, each time. It would be a bit more time consuming to build, and probably reflected in the prices. Also, lead times may be an issue, you order and psy for your camera, and then wait weeks for it to be built. While we are dreaming i will take 1. Yes i would like an LCD with sapphire cover 2. No movie button 3. Colour (bayer array) 4. 24mp high ISO 5. Yes i would like a frameline lever 6. Black paint, black leather, preferably a bit grippier than my M240 - unless titanium is an option, in which case, just bare Ti for the top and bottom plates, with a red dot 7. 0.85 8. Removeable battery (like m240) 9. Yes i would like a double SD slot, with options to shoot to both cards, raw to one and joeg to the other, or just overflow from one to the next 10. No to the hybrid VF but i would like a shutter speed display in the vf or even just a warning when you dip below 1/focal length (mahbe change the framelines from white to red) 11. Black dot, my name in small letters in top plate 12. Led illuminated - like m240 13. No sim card, but wifi would be nice (ability to fire shutter and remotely view/download pics from an ipad, or have the camera shoot straight to a laptop, wireless tethering) 14. LCD on top panel, like the M8 with battery capacity and frames remaining - backlit too (just use the frameline led to light it up) 15. Flat top (like m240) 16. No gloves Well that was fun, i love my M240 the way it is, but a custom one would be nice.

SiOnara Posted September 23, 2014 Share #11 Posted September 23, 2014 4. 24 high ISO or 50mp high detail: 24/50 I'd like an option similar to the Sony A7s. Maybe 16mp with amazing 80,000 ISO.
