Zhangalbert Posted September 17, 2014 Share #1  Posted September 17, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) horry sheet... ok so last time i posted about my few weeks old Leica X Vario lcd screen have been gaining some dust inside it.  and now i have stumbled on totally purple image out of it. is this a sensor failure...? oh man... why Leica why...  it only occurs once though, i took about 500 shot that day, but it bothers me now, the sample was cropped for a better look at that weird wavy texture on the whole image, more noticeable on the face  anyone experiencing this on Xs series? is it memory card failure or was it the sensor? colonel Posted September 17, 2014 Share #2 Â Posted September 17, 2014 my bet was either a weird light bulb flash which the camera caught and your eye might not have or a SD card failure
Zhangalbert Posted September 17, 2014 Author Share #3 Â Posted September 17, 2014 ummm pretty sure i shot coupled of times after i saw this one out of curiosity, but others were just fine i kept shooting same direction afterwards but its fine... jaapv Posted September 17, 2014 Share #4 Â Posted September 17, 2014 If it happened only once I would say write error to the SD card as well.

Zhangalbert Posted September 17, 2014 Author Share #6 Â Posted September 17, 2014 Well im getting use to it, dust didnt quite bother me that much now, but with all these quirks im pretty convinced to send this camera back to solms as soon as im done with some projects, just dont fail on me yet Leica i kinda love my old trusty lx5 now lol
Jmont Posted September 17, 2014 Share #7 Â Posted September 17, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Its actually a very strange issue others have had, myself included. Only had it happen once and a quick restart and re-compose made it go away.
dkCambridgeshire Posted September 17, 2014 Share #8  Posted September 17, 2014 Dust seems to have gone? And a one-off purple image ?  User error ?  " … all these quirks… " Just two anomalies?  dunk
Zhangalbert Posted September 17, 2014 Author Share #9  Posted September 17, 2014 There are few other things i would say minor quirks, one day i found the shutter speed dial error as i scroll through it manually but the information screen tells me im in auto setting solved by restarting it  The other day i was just checkin my XV in my room, its pretty dim. I didnt aim it at any direct light source, and its on manual setting, All of a suddeny my lcd blast with a purple light of some sort... Wut tha...  So i investigate further by aiming down on the floor and shot under exposed the setting was iso 3200, wide open on widest focal range, starting from 1/125 and increasing it halfstep all the way to 1/15  And i discovered purple light both on left and right bottom corner it looks like some sort of flare, its subtle but noticeable up until 1/30 (its under exposed by 1 step)  On 1/15 it disappear...  I dont know maybe its all common with the digital thing, i started photography as a hobby through the analog era, i used to shot with FM2 when i moved to digital camera i bought lumix lx5 it never let me down, and it does had ugly vertical purple flare too on video but never on photo mode.  All these quirks happens randomly on rare occasion, but judging the price tag and the duration i have used it, i doubt it reliable to use for the next lets say 3 years. My lx5 had been abused so badly for the last 2 years, been dropped more than once, sensor was blast through lightings from music scene countless time, took flight many times, and the only thing that it gave up was the flash. I aint planning to abuse my XV though lol

I remember I switched the camera off, took the battery out of it for a minute, inserted the battery again. Never occurred again. Â Best

jhluxton Posted September 17, 2014 Share #12 Â Posted September 17, 2014 When I had a V-Lux1 from time to time I would get a bluish purple image on the EVF - but the image appeared okay when downloaded from the card.
