Advertisement Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Hi Doc Henry, Take a look here I love my M7.... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Frank Sellitto Posted June 19, 2016 Share #442 Posted June 19, 2016 Frank , the lightmeter of the M7 is redoubtable and fast , when you choose option "A" : "aperture priority" (I use this) or "exposure speed priority" An example in these 2 pictures taken at 2 am Image3bordseineparkp160m7feclfht+++-950tc.jpg and at 6 pm at Paris Image10laseinekp400m735lafeclfht+++-2-950tc.jpg High definition in the two cases In b&w same notice Best Henry Lovely pics Henry....and yes I do use the AE feature quite often. Thanks for the info! Frank
John Saves Posted June 22, 2016 Share #443 Posted June 22, 2016 Right now i'm not so loving my Leica M7. The shutter broke, repair will be ~1000€. Would be much cheaper with a M6...
erl Posted June 22, 2016 Share #444 Posted June 22, 2016 Look at it this way. The purchase price of anything is only the start. Running costs on anything are far greater. eg. motor cars, wives, etc. Look at the repair cost as just maintenance to keep enjoying something you love. I am sure you enjoy your M7 more than if it were am M6!

John , sorry for the news. Could we know why it's broken ? not under warranty ? I agree with Erl, if only around 1000E and if it's new , it's worth to repair Rg Henry

Thanks for your reply John As purchased new, I think you should send a message to Wetzlar After Sales Service (with the photo) and wait for their response. Personally it's not your fault and the guarantee should go, with phone number but better you write a message. http://en.leica-camera.com/Contact?country=18004&category%5B%5D=Photography but perhaps you have already done ? Doc Henry Posted June 29, 2016 Author Share #448 Posted June 29, 2016 I love M7 really fabulous camera and with the Apo Summicron Asph another fabulous Leica lens I obtain this kind of picture. Picture is like a painting No need to correct with photo software. You frame through the formidable mechanical and optical rangefinder (I do do not need magnifier). You let the lighmeter of your M7 do the exposure measuring for you (ultra precise measurement) and you trigger. Really simple ! I want just to say about the "cost" as you said , one roll of Kodak Portra film in example costs for me less than 2 Euros the roll and I have no scratches (scratches if I give to a external lab) and I do a good work (even on sunday) when I develop myself ! Yes I enjoy my M7 (as a M6 as you said) ... and soon the M-A Rg H
Mike (nicodemus3d) Posted January 13, 2017 Share #451 Posted January 13, 2017 (edited) Hi all, I've really enjoyed reading through this thread. My new (to me) M7 arrived last week and I'm totally in love with it so far. From an M8, I discovered film through a Zeiss Ikon, and now the M7. It's a beautiful machine. Doc Henry Posted January 13, 2017 Author Share #452 Posted January 13, 2017 (edited) Hi Nico, With the M7 , you will see that the photographic approach is no longer the sameyou compose, you take your time.... And you shoot at the right time "à la manière de Henri Cartier Bresson" for example for the street photo and congrats for your new acquisition. ... you're also welcome to our thread with 1303 pages of film photos http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/205842-i-like-filmopen-thread/page-1303?do=findComment&comment=3185208 Good photos and see you in film thread. Mike (nicodemus3d) Posted January 13, 2017 Share #457 Posted January 13, 2017 What lens have you ? My main lens is the 35mm Summilux ASPH. I also use a Zeiss 50mm Planar f2, Zeiss 28mm Biogon f2.8 and a Leica 90mm Summicron ASPH. And for special occasions when I want bucket loads of character I have a Leitz 50mm Summar f2 I'm going to trade in the 28mm soon as I rarely use it, and hopefully get myself something like the 50mm summar but in 35mm. Something with low contrast, lots of flaring, but still nice and sharp and reasonably fast. Any recommendations are very welcome.
Doc Henry Posted January 13, 2017 Author Share #458 Posted January 13, 2017 (edited) Nico I have also a 90 Summicron Asph . The poppies * above are taken with this lens A summilux 35 Asph is a luminous lens and I use for bad light condition , always mounted on my M7. About the 28 mm you already have a Zeiss, you want a second lens ? In this case , I suggest you the 28 Summicron Asph ! it's a really good lens and I use for street photos with my M7. If too expensive for you , you have Elmarit 28 Asph f/2.8 which is considered a good lens. One with rendering similar to the 50mm summar.
