M240 won't turn on

For eight hours.

It seems that the camera accidentally turned on in the bag on C (continuous) during the night,

In the morning When I turned it on, no power was in the camera, even though I changed to a second battery and even when I recharged the battery.

I left the camera for around eight hours and rechecked, it started working normally.

Has anyone faced this problem? Would like to know please, I guess it's kind of protection for the censor (heat).

Regards,

Edgard

I have never seen this one before, but given the circumstances I would not worry too much if it is functioning normally now.Just prevent it from happening again. It is a classic thing to do for Leica owners since the M5, though ;)

Jaap,

Thank you for your reply, Today my M240 has totally died, no sign of power at all, using my both batteries.

Tomorrow I will go to my dealer to try another battery, but I do not think this is the cause.

Edgard

In that case it was probably not drained in the bag...

I have left mine on for several days in both S and C modes and there has been no battery drain at all. With latest firmware camera seems to go to sleep with no battery discharge evident.

With the shutter button half-pressed by the bag?

How would I, or you, know? The OP talks of the camera turning on to C, and I was responding to that for his information in case it was helpful to him. There would be clear evidence of this , shutter buttons becoming half pressed is pure speculation.

.

Perhaps we are reading different things. If the camera just turns on it will go to sleep in a short while if it is not used, and as I said in my original post in this state there is no battery drain. Turning on is very different from turning on and half pressing shutter button and I haven't a clue what happens in this state, but this state wasn't mentioned!

I think the words 'in the bag' resonate the same way for many camera users, the meaning being that the shutter button was pressed against the side of the bag while the switch was On. It is why camera's have On and Off switches.
