Advertisement Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Hi k-hawinkler, Take a look here Pino Fire Smoke, Jemez Mountains, NM. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
allamande Posted September 3, 2014 Share #2 Â Posted September 3, 2014 K.-H., Â The second image has a special pull, for some reason. The light, colors and detail in the landscape are magnificient. I can almost smell the sagebrush. And the smoke generates an ominous feel but somehow doesn't look out of place either; a natural disaster that perhaps we've come to expect to see in this setting. I don't know if this makes any sense. Whatever it is, I find that second image enigmatic and powerful. Well done! Â I hope the fire is out by now. k-hawinkler Posted September 3, 2014 Author Share #3 Â Posted September 3, 2014 Thanks Ece. Â Apparently the fire was ignited by a lightning strike some time ago, but in an area prepared for a prescribed burn. So today they went ahead with the prescribed burn. Â Over at the other forum Show your before and after images - The GetDPI Photography Forums they have a thread showing before and after processing results of Leica images. It's interesting what folks do. So I thought to throw in a B&W image as well.
pauledell Posted September 3, 2014 Share #4 Â Posted September 3, 2014 K-H, Â The second version is my choice as the best. The foreground has much more detail without degrading the fire in the background, while the b&w version can't describe the blaze. Â Paul
Bill W Posted September 3, 2014 Share #5 Â Posted September 3, 2014 The second one for sure.
