Will this fit a M240 or MM?

Have you tried it?

Do you like it?

Any issues when using the magnifier? Why does it need a leash? I would leave it on at all times.

Here is a Hong Kong model. Have you tried this one? Opinions?

Thanks

Some comments in this FAQ.

Best to try at a dealer first. Be sure eyes are corrected first, as needed (glasses, diopter, astigmatism issues, etc), else issues will just be magnified. Some don't like loss of contrast. I find the M VF perfectly fine without it….my 1.25 mag sits in a drawer.

The string is one way to store it and prevent dropping….as it may not suit for different focal lengths, given potential lens changes.

As anything relating to eyes, this is a personal matter requiring experimentation. Technical specs don't always tell the story….comfort and preferences vary.

The magnifier is really to increase the magnification of the framelines using longer lenses, with wide lenses it crops the full framelines, hence you need to take it off. So it is useful for a 135mm lens, and useless with a 28mm lens.

My experience with the Leica 1.25x is that it works well for lenses >= 35mm.

With the 75mm Summicron, which has a short focus throw, it's essential.

I do recall trying a 1.4x 3rd party magnifier and the low contrast immediately made me say - not for me.
