mnsh Posted May 5, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 5, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) These are from November 2006 taken with the D-LUX 2. The Old Rugged Cross is ancient and set at the junction of a leat, these are very old water channels made along contour lines. The river Dart and its tributaries were running high, and the autumn colours good. Winter sunlight came in sideways illuminating tree trunks for black-and-white. Most walks were boggy, and pools below Hay Tor were photogenic. On top of a tor at sunset the wind was bitterly cold and strong making it hard to stand up and hold the camera steady. The sun rays are natural, and the foreground really was dark and featureless. In the last picture I used Photoshop to lighten the foreground pool area by a quarter of a notch of smart-fix. Shooting into the sun required working the camera completely on Manual, and using the LCD viewfinder is better than looking at the sun by eye. stuny Posted May 5, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 5, 2007 Matthew - A truly lovely series. I suspect that the lack of comments is due to people not scrolling through them all -- The first two need some punching up. Once that's done, every one of them will be winners. I particularly like the two low shots with water in the foreground.
