sblutter Posted September 4, 2014 Share #41 Posted September 4, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I much prefer the plastic 12538 because I use filters (ND & Pola) quite a bit. I razored off the interior spacing ridge, meaning you can attached the shade in the proper lens barrel channel, well behind the filter. To do the same on the metal one would take grinding and more work than necessary Concern is shade too far forward b/c it would get stuck on the filter > vignetting. Its a bit fiddly but quick to get used to - and after years...
Advertisement Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Hi sblutter, Take a look here Hood for rigid summicron 50. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lct Posted September 4, 2014 Share #42 Posted September 4, 2014 my version says it's for the 50mm f/2 as well You mean your version of 12504 or 12585? If it is 12585 it is normal since it was made for 50mm lenses in the first place. If it is 12504, would you mean to show it? Just curious.
swamiji Posted September 4, 2014 Share #43 Posted September 4, 2014 The 12585 says it's for 35mm and 50mm. The 12504 only mentions 35mm, on the hood.

swamiji Posted September 4, 2014 Share #45 Posted September 4, 2014 The LUF wiki mentioned it also works with the 28 Elmarit ASPH, and can verify it does work. I also tried it with my 50 ridged, that also works, and it allows me to use series VII filters. Actually I purchased the 12504 just to use series VII filters. lct Posted September 4, 2014 Share #46 Posted September 4, 2014 The 12504 has always been made for wides i.e. 35/1.4 and 35/2 in the first place then 28/2.8 asph lastly (pics). It can be used also with longer focal length lenses like 50/2 but it is not made for them and will offer little protection against flare there. Just my little experience but YMMV.
