Advertisement Posted November 9, 2021 Posted November 9, 2021 Hi doctorpepe, Take a look here Fujifilm Neopan 100 Acros OR Ilford FP4 125 ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
chrism Posted November 9, 2021 Share #22 Posted November 9, 2021 (edited) Since the thread has woken up again, I'll advise a change of opinion. I've a good deal of Acros 100 in bulk form, and if it is different to the newly re-introduced Acros 100 I wouldn't know. I believe it is still the best film to choose if you are doing long exposures where reciprocity comes into play. On the other hand, FP4 and FP4+ are films I've used since my teens, and honestly cared little for them. But since I discovered how nice they look if exposed at EI 200 and developed in Diafine, I have to say it has earned a solid place in my pantheon of slower films. I'm currently out of 35mm cassettes of FP4+, but have it in bulk (and lots of 120). I think I have one empty Lloyd film loader, so perhaps I should put my reel of FP4+ in it. That would leave me with bulk reels of Kentmere 100 and 400 (but I'm thinking they are films of last resort probably unfairly), HP5+ and Arista 400 with no loaders. Probably ought to order more Lloyd bulk loaders! Currently I have bulk loaders with Acros 100, Neopan 400, XP2 Super, Pan F, Rollei Retro 80S. I have one empty loader which I can use for FP4+. Perhaps I need four more, for HP5+, Kentmere 100, Kentmere, 400 and that whole damn shelf of 10 reels of Arista 400 (Tri-X) reels. Ornello Posted November 9, 2021 Share #27 Posted November 9, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would use HP5 + or Tri-X. The grain on these films is very fine, and they are designed for outdoor work in uncontrolled conditions. FP4+ is also very good, but I would not recommend Acros because its true speed is more like 64.
Documentary Research Posted January 23 Share #28 Posted January 23 Erato: I may be interested in using the photo you posted of a Kodak TriX40 Rodinal 50 in a documentary film. Did you take this photo? If not, do you know who did? Best to answer me at tfoxman1@gmail.com and I will give you details about our project. Thanks, in advance for getting back to me. Einst_Stein Posted January 27 Share #29 Posted January 27 Both are excellent choices. tonality wise, it is purely personal taste. But, for price, FP125 definitely wins hands down. But for fine grain, Acros might have edge.
