klatt Posted September 28, 2014 Share #161 Posted September 28, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) The M60 is there. A most interesting side effect of a lacking LCD is to use no LCD, of course ;-) In practice one gets an appreciable larger number of shots per battery charge. This is comparable to the use of a laptop computer on the road. Dim the screen brightness, preferably switch off wireless connectivity and get some extra hours of use. A less luxurious alternative to a M60 is a standard M240 with the screen switched off. Major reasons for not using a LCD are an unobtrusive style of shooting and extended battery life. Both is available in the M60, yet. A camera without LCD could provide both at the additional benefit of a smaller footprint. At least the M60 body ist made of stainless steel, probably providing a few grams of weight loss in comparison to the brass version. As a comparison, the beautifully made X-Pro1 can be used perfectly without the LCD, getting some thousands of 16MP (maximum resolution RAW + JPG) shots from 1 (one) battery charge. The M also delivers a lot of more shots per battery charge with the LCD off. Think of a solution combining the Leica-style optical rangefinder with a Fuji-style hybrid viewfinder and many of us would not miss any external LCD. This could result in a very tempting reincarnation of Leica M.

Agree, using the X100 hybrid myself and comparing it to my new EVF-2 (which is good as well for its purpose) but obviously very much "out of the box". Fuji could have some nice nuggets to cross-patent apart from the hybrid viewfinder.

k_g_wolf ✝ Posted October 1, 2014 Share #164 Posted October 1, 2014 Hopefully, lct, but you/ we might have to wait for PK 2018 ... SOLMS used to be pretty slow. Maybe that changed with the move to WETZLAR, it could then be PK 2016. Best GEORG
