Guest Nick932 Posted August 5, 2014 Share #1 Posted August 5, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) My M240 developed a new issue: If I turn off the Live View the shutter release does not work. I have removed the battery and reset the camera several times. Any suggestions.

Guest Nick932 Posted August 9, 2014 Share #3 Posted August 9, 2014 I did return the camera and nearly all my purchases. In addition the following issue appeared: For a setting the camera will indicate the shutter speed of 1/30 at ISO 800. Making this image the actual recorded image values would be 1/250 at ISO 400. As an end result the image would be well underexposed and some times nearly black. At various instances I reset the camera and it repeated the same issues. A couple times I tried to set the speed and the actual speed setting was ignored. In addition this behaviour changed and from being consistent it became inconsistent and it would happen sporadically. I am going to take a break from Leica for a while. I still like the camera and their lenses I wish it would work more consistently.

For you. If you have a problem I'm sure it can be sorted out, but you seem to think/hope/imply it is across a wide range of people and a common occurrence. As such the true balance of satisfaction shouldn't be swayed by individual comments. Steve

As such the true balance of satisfaction shouldn't be swayed by individual comments. I am not exactly sure what you mean. But I do not expect to buy anything brand new and next day send it to repair. Certainly, my experience from Leica, concerning camera reliability, has been the worst I ever had. If you think that there is a resolution please let me know. bocaburger Posted August 10, 2014 Share #6 Posted August 10, 2014 I have owned cars in my lifetime that required sorting for issues that cropped up from the get-go. While it certainly threw a wet blanket on the pleasure of a new car, the dealerships gave me a loaner to drive and the repairs rarely took more than a few days. To have to send a new camera across the country (or world) at considerable expense (shipping and insurance on a $7000 camera isn't cheap) and wait weeks or months to get it back would certainly be disconcerting to say the least. I have not had that happen with any new Leica thus far (and I purchased a couple MP's, a couple M7's, and an M8, M9 and M240 new or as demos) so in all fairness I can't denounce or renounce the brand. From what I've read, Leica has made an exemplary effort to sort issues free of charge well past the warranty period. But for people who aren't close to the factory, those long turnaround times and the dearth of loaner equipment for non-professionals, who make up the lion's share of their customers, could stand some improvement. I appreciate it for sharing this info. I think they should have a reset button like old PCs, at least woukd not be so obvious that the camera has just crashed.
