Al_OOF Posted August 3, 2014 Share #1 Posted August 3, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) My Bowens 800 and Elincrom units have always worked, with sync cable, with any camera. With Leica M9 they dont work. Someone suggested me to reverse cable terminals (in the connector camera side)... Any among you do have experience in connecting M9 to external flash units? Many thanks for any advice

Luke_Miller Posted August 3, 2014 Share #2 Posted August 3, 2014 I use a PocketWizard in the hot shoe for my White Lightning lights. What sync cord are you using and how are you connecting it to your M9? When I connect to my Cheetah Light CL-360 via a PC sync cord I put a Nikon AS-15 in the hot shoe. No rewiring necessary. Al_OOF Posted August 3, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted August 3, 2014 I use this on the M9 and this to connect the flash unit (mine has the 6.3mm RCA jack)
Guest obsidian0 Posted August 3, 2014 Share #4 Posted August 3, 2014 A quick, simple and cheap wireless alternative is the YONGNUO RF-602 2.4GHz Wireless Remote Flash Trigger for NIKON, which I've paired with Nikon flashes for the M9, MM and M240. Al_OOF Posted August 3, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted August 3, 2014 Thanks for the advices; going wireless is a good alternative but I don't understand why all is ok with other cameras and not with M9...
CaptZoom Posted August 3, 2014 Share #6 Posted August 3, 2014 I use this on the M9 and this to connect the flash unit (mine has the 6.3mm RCA jack) Have you ruled out one the above being faulty? I use a similar setup occasionally (with PCB Einstein); it works just fine.
Luke_Miller Posted August 3, 2014 Share #7 Posted August 3, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Have rules out one the above being faulty? I would bet the hot shoe PC Sync coupler is faulty. The Nikon AS-15 works perfectly on my M9. Nikon AS-15 Sync Terminal Adapter (Hot Shoe to PC) 3066 B&H
Al_OOF Posted August 3, 2014 Author Share #8 Posted August 3, 2014 Have you ruled out one the above being faulty? I tried with the same camera at the home of a friend of mine with his flash and with a different set of cable and adapter. It did not work with cable but only wireless.
