Leica Mate Posted July 29, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 29, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) No idea how to describe this problem I'm having other than "banded skyline" or perhaps "colorless rainbow". Any thoughts on why this may occur? I'm using Leica M8 with Leica 50mm f/1.4 Summilux ASPH (6-Bit) - Silver Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Hi Leica Mate, Take a look here Banded skyline. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pgk Posted July 29, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 29, 2014 Were these shot as jpegs or RAW files? Did you 'pull back the highlights' in software? Banding indicates a lack of data or 'false data' and shows up where there is a problem with exposure (such as in blown or near blown highlights) or when adjustments are too severe where data is insufficient to allow this (which is my guess here - but there are various possibilities). If you explain more about the settings and original exposure (were the images overexposed or very close to the right of the histogram) and what you did (if anything) in software it will help. jaapv Posted July 29, 2014 Share #3 Posted July 29, 2014 It looks like post processing in 8 bits. What raw converter?
jip Posted August 1, 2014 Share #4 Posted August 1, 2014 Yes what jaap said is my first idea too, because you processed in a 8bit eviorment you lost lots of colour data and you will now get banding in subtle colour differences on big areas that are almost the same, like the sky... How did you shoot, what did you import it into, and how did you edit and export, if you tell us this I can trace down where it went wrong
daure Posted August 2, 2014 Share #5 Posted August 2, 2014 If the raw converter is Lightroom, try without lens correction profil. Seems to me it could be the problem..
