Close but no nana...

Rob -

Perfect timing to get this framing (Were you on the fence where the rider and steer emerged to your right?). Terrific light, color and details. I slightly prefer the drama and consonance of the color over the B&W.

Though we do get the feeling that the quarterhorse is moving quickly, the steer doesn't appear that way, and may need to enter a 12-Step Program.

Yeah they come out of the chute a bit hard and fast. I needed the hoofer to be one pace ahead but it just wasnt going to happen. Earlier no horse, fraction later is horses ass. Close but no banana.

Guess if I had a digital I could chimp to find out, but with film, one shot.

Kinda after mid day in forty degree summer, already at f/8, f/16 on a thousandth so no room to move either.

Someones right, isnt quite the spot to shoot from but you cant pick and chose. Ill know what to look for next time.

Great shot. Gives the feeling of being right there with the wideangle and so close.

Funnily enough I was just reading an article on how to take photos at rodeos ... but none of his shots were as dramatic as yours - and he does have the advantage of just motoring through the shots with a Canon until one comes right. Does that count as photography or movie making?
