Dunbar Posted July 27, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 27, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, First post here, great resource ! I have enjoyed using my D Lux 5 for a few years, but have an itch to try a Digilux 2. It sounds like a lovely camera and seems very capable, I just wonder if it is worth trading my D Lux 5 to try one? How does the spec compare (other than the pixel amount and sensor issues with Digilux) Any advice would be helpful and appreciated.
Advertisement Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Hi Dunbar, Take a look here D Lux 5 compared to Digikux 2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted July 27, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 27, 2014 The Digilux 2 (we normally call it the "D2") is far older than your D-Lux 5, much larger and heavier, so do not expect a camera you can put in your pocket. It will also not focus as closely as your D-Lux. Your D-Lux will focus and take subsequent photos a bit quicker. But, even though the D2 is now 10 years old, it is a still capable camera which you can use as a full point and shoots, as with the D-lux, but it has classic, easy-to-use analog controls. See if you can try one to see if you like it before selling your D-Lux.

wda Posted July 27, 2014 Share #4 Posted July 27, 2014 Welcome Dunbar! I have both cameras. The younger DLux5 is unquestionably more able because of technology improvements. So that would be my first choice for daily needs. In contrast, I regard the D2 as a trip down digital memory lane. It is lovely to handle and gives astonishing results for its age. But I doubt I would sell my DLux 5 to buy an older D2.
