SteveSFO Posted July 25, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 25, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is anyone else having an issue where the M is set to Advanced in the Light Metering Mode. The camera is turned off and when turned back on, the shutter makes a reset sound? No photo is taken. When I take the M off of Advanced and set back to Classic, there is no sound. I have the latest firmware installed. Thanks!!
Advertisement Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Hi SteveSFO, Take a look here Reset Shutter sound in Advanced Light Metering Mode. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted July 25, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 25, 2014 Of course. The advanced exposure methods are read off the sensor, so the shutter has to open. The classic mode is read off the shutter curtain, so it stays closed.
SteveSFO Posted July 25, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted July 25, 2014 Thanks JAAPV.... just want to make sure that no one else is seeing the same problem. I was told that early M240's had an issue where the shutter would reset - no image taken but the sound. Supposedly there was a fix by Leica to prevent this. However, if you and others see the same thing, it must be just a normal function.
JohnJWhite Posted July 25, 2014 Share #4 Posted July 25, 2014 The shutter is "resetting", it's opening.
pico Posted July 25, 2014 Share #5 Posted July 25, 2014 It is not an issue, nor a problem. .

250swb Posted July 26, 2014 Share #8 Posted July 26, 2014 Issues and problems often arise for complicated reasons, and it must be a complicated reason not to have read the little black book. I'm sure people will have lost them in tornados or floods, been eaten by the dog, used to prop up a short chair leg, etc. But if you successfully unpacked the little black book this is mentioned in a bullet point paragraph on page 181 under the topic of Advanced light metering,...... just saying:D Steve
algrove Posted July 28, 2014 Share #9 Posted July 28, 2014 Steve Some people just do not get past the first level of the box (camera body) and never open the drawers except to find the battery.
