bobs Posted May 2, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 2, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have recently purchased a 2nd hand Leica R 14 277 and am curious as to the settings on the rotary dial. Are they linear or logarithmit ? There appears to be no logic in the timings as presented on my unit. Five appears to represent five seconds but ten appears to represent more like eighteen seconds

bobs Posted May 7, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted May 7, 2007 The Remote Control that I am referring to is the Electronic Timer unit that plugs into the Motor Drive or Winder. The central knob is used to set the interval time and I can find no co-relation between the markings 0 - 10 and the actual timeeg 3 = about 3 seconds 5 = about 10 seconds and 10 = about 30 seconds and this is on the X1 setting

stumac Posted May 17, 2007 Share #6 Posted May 17, 2007 Bob, I will look for my instruction book when I get back on saturday pm, from memory the 0-10 numbers are only arbitory, the control is continously variable as you are aware. hektor Posted May 17, 2007 Share #7 Posted May 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Bob, With mine I ignore the numbers on the remote control and have created my own time intervals with a stop watch. In Leica's little booklet "Tips on Projection" a projection time of 20 seconds is recommended, research indicating it takes the average viewer 10 seconds to comprehend the picture and a further 10 seconds to appreciate it. I find this an excellent means of evaluating my slides. If at 15 seconds I am ready for the next shot I assume it not to be one of the better ones, however if at 20 seconds, when the slide automatically changes, I feel the viewing time was not sufficient I take it to be a more interesting, possibly better shot.
