Loose Aperture Ring

Hi this is my first post here and I am new to Leica and i bought my m240 and 35lux new a couple of months ago. The experience so far has been a joy and i got many wonderful pictures from it.

Last week I added a new 21sem and I can't help but notice the difference of the aperture rings. While the operation on the 21sem has a nice tension and click, the aperture ring on the 35lux was loose in comparison and it was like this from day 1 and there were many occasions when the aperture was changed without me knowing.

I am not sure if I should send it in due to the lengthy wait and the lens is perfect for me otherwise.

+1. I've just sold my 35 FLE, but it too had a very loose aperture ring, to the degree that it was constantly prone to being moved even by light brushing. I found it a bit of a pain, and a bit out of kilter with such an otherwise excellent (and expensive) piece of optical engineering.

I've heard the 18 SEM also suffers with this, but my example is certainly tighter than was my 35 FLE.

Regards

I had my 35 FLE aperture ring adjusted by Leica to make it firmer and very happy with it now and performs just like my 28 summicron

I never understood why Leica chose to make the aperture ring so loose as it slipped out of position too easily. On the plus side it was a quick and easy fix

Good luck

I had this issue with my 18mm Leica adjusted this and it has now resolved the issue. I very much lost the love for this lens when I kept thinking the light meter was wrong or having to push ISO too heavily realising I'd thrown away two stops by knocking the ring whilst using in a normal fashion

I'd ask your dealer to send it back, they were very helpful, very quick and it was free

Very glad I did it and this was a secondhand, albeit nearly new, lens
