ahklein Posted June 2, 2014 Share #1 Posted June 2, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just returned from a day of shooting and loaded the images onto my computer. I use Apple's Aperture to store and sort my photos. I noticed that the time stamp in the EXIF Data was erratic. Images were off by 6 hours or so. I only noticed it because my Project sorts by time stamp, and many were out of order. The image number assigned by the camera was correct. The time was corrected to the time zone I was in. In other words, some images were correctly listed at 6:00 PM PDT (which was correct), while others were at 12:00 AM PDT. Any thoughts how this could happen?? JohnJWhite Posted June 2, 2014 Share #2 Posted June 2, 2014 Were you using that GPS hand grip? I don't have one, but I've read that it can think it's somewhere it isn't, and that affects the time. If you're in Los Angeles, and the GPS thinks it's in Iceland...

mjh Posted June 3, 2014 Share #4 Posted June 3, 2014 Yep, GPS is the most likely cause. Several people have been complaining about the GPS unit messing with the time setting.
LuFo Posted June 3, 2014 Share #5 Posted June 3, 2014 I have experienced similar problems using the MF hand grip. Other than removing the handgrip is there a way to disable the GPS function and effect on the Time Stamp Lutz
wlaidlaw Posted June 3, 2014 Share #6 Posted June 3, 2014 You can turn off auto time lock on GPS. It is very reluctant to do so and you may have to make a number of attempts to get the turn off to “take”. I too have had odd results, particularly in India. where the GPS would change the time all over the place. Wilson
