ahklein Posted May 29, 2014 Share #1 Posted May 29, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Help! I am a new M240 owner and am just getting comfortable with my camera. I like to shoot RAW, and set my camera to DNG. I just noticed that somehow my setting was changed to JPEG. Also, I recognized that my "Date format" changed. I don"t recall making these changes. Could I have inadvertently changed my settings to the factory default?

Daniel Beacock Posted May 29, 2014 Share #2 Posted May 29, 2014 Maybe inadvertently changed user profile?
JohnJWhite Posted May 29, 2014 Share #3 Posted May 29, 2014 I'm a new M 240 user myself, and this had me befuddled until I plowed my way through the manual. You need to create a "User Profile". At least one, and you'll probably want to create several, for different situations. Press the "Set" button. At the bottom you'll see "User Profile". It probably shows "Default Profile" now. Go through the menu and select the settings you like for a particular situation. Then save it as a User Profile in "Set". I have one profile for shooting with just the optical rangefinder. I have another for shooting with the "EVF". Once I get my Canon FD lens adapter, I'll create another for shooting macro with the Canon bellows and macro lenses. When you switch the camera "on" it will start up in the "User Profile" you were in when you shut the camera down. But be aware that if you select a "User Profile" and while shooting you make any changes to the settings, such as ISO, the camera will no longer be in that User Profile. Hope that helps. lct Posted May 29, 2014 Share #4 Posted May 29, 2014 Or you did a reset inadvertently. Better save your profiles on your cards to retrieve them easily.
ahklein Posted May 30, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted May 30, 2014 Great advice. I just created two user profiles and I will keep an eye on them. Thank you!
thighslapper Posted May 30, 2014 Share #6 Posted May 30, 2014 You have inadvertently reverted to the default camera profile which uses JPEG ...... ....... any user profiles you create save ALL the user changeable data that was present when you created and saved the profile...... including date formats and other stuff you wouldn't normally have thought about....... as above ...... set all the basic things then configure and save each profile, naming them something sensible. Remember, if you modify any profile you will have to re-save it or you will lose the changes when you move to another ...... I have mine configured to Outside, Indoors, Night and HDR, with different auto iso settings, WB etc. Note that Auto Bracketing settings are NOT saved .... which is an unfixed bug in the firmware...... ..... and as LCT says..... I always save my profiles to card when I insert a new one which saves time when you have made changes you realise you don't want to keep ..... lct Posted May 30, 2014 Share #7 Posted May 30, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) +1 and don't forget to save your profiles again if you format your card as they will be erased by the formatting process .
