paulsydaus Posted May 29, 2014 Share #1 Posted May 29, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Guys, I'd appreciate some feedback on this test shot. I'm looking to do some night time photography. If you have any tips please let me know. I'd rather not use flash (too many issues with reflective surfaces, plus I don't like the look), which means I'll probably be using a tripod some of the time. This shot is actually HDR. I hope you still think it looks natural. Cheers, Paul Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! A miller Posted May 29, 2014 Share #2 Posted May 29, 2014 i think it looks great. very natural. i might try to dial down the highlights inside the machine on the right. but looks really good. i assume you are shooting wide open with a modern lens? paulsydaus Posted May 29, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted May 29, 2014 Thanks for the advice. Yes it was the current version 75 APO wide open on a tripod. However the scene had huge dynamic range (my guess around 20 stops or more) so I used auto exposure bracketing of -4,-2,0,2,4 and stitched in HDR Efex Pro 2. Next time I will stop down a little since I was using a tripod anyway. i think it looks great. very natural. i might try to dial down the highlights inside the machine on the right. but looks really good. i assume you are shooting wide open with a modern lens? Steve Ash Posted May 29, 2014 Share #5 Posted May 29, 2014 The old rule says shoot night shots at dusk or dawn. Regards Steve

Iduna Posted May 29, 2014 Share #7 Posted May 29, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Paul, a very good picture and your bracketing worked quite well. You got a very cinematic result by open lens.

paulsydaus Posted May 30, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted May 30, 2014 Great thanks for the tip, I will try to lower the dynamic range by shooting at dusk.
