Another price drop for the X Vario

Getting lower in Australia, too. It's available for $2590 in at least one place, which is a far cry from the $3300 original retail.

Some online stores are offering it at AUD$1970, but I really wonder where that stock comes from, and if it has an Australian warranty. Most likely not, at that price. I'd prefer to buy from a brick and mortar Australian store to get local warranty and support if necessary.

Price in Norway reduced to NOK 11.995, VAT incl., less than 1500 EUR.

Getting interesting....

Is there any online shop where it's possible to buy at that price? Here in Italy the price is still nailed at the official level...

Thanks,

Bruno

Hi, all - I just bought a silver X Vario from B&H at $2,249 and I couldn't be happier. The camera feels much more substantial in my hand than my X2 and I realized how much I missed the zoom function.

Cheers,

Mike

Yikes! And I thought that Leica's always held their value well. (Even the Panasonic-rebranded Leica D-Lux series has retained good resale value in the past for me.)

This is great news for prospective buyers of new or used XV's. It's bad news for someone like me who just bought a T and is selling an XV.

I nonetheless have no regrets for owning an XV. I always thought it is a super camera even at its original price. It's now an even better camera, with its bigger bang for the buck.

Timing is everything in life...

I think with those prices if not a X2 + X-Vario is the more flexible and better solution over a Leica T with 24 and zoom.

The x2 is quite small and fits into a pocket, you don't have to change lenses, and you have a backup if one camera fails.

Plus the nicer (IMO) user interface.

X2 & XV would be my pick over the T as well. The two make for an excellent and lightweight travel combo, (unless wildlife and sports shooting are planned, of course).

Seems that norwegian dealer interfoto as has a webshop with the sub-1500€ price for X-vario. Wonder if they deliver abroad.. might just throw them an email about it.

I was more thinking about getting a lens for my M240, but with that peice the vario starts to look interesting.. especially since I already have the evf.

Interesting..

That's the solution I'm considering myself. There's another point: X2 & X Vario share the same batteries and EVF, so they make quite an integrated system.

Furthermore, both of them currently produce better dng files than the T.

According to latest LFI The T shares sensor with X Vario.

As in old sensor re hashed. It could have had the later Sony sensor.,there seem to be issues with the number of files you can transfer over the "app" at any one time too, I.e. 1 !

I think it was released before it was tested properly as there seems to be several things that interested people and owners would have liked, that are now bring pointed out. There are several request for alterations that they would like addressed in firmware updates.

It does indeed. The sensor is the same for the T, for the X Vario and for the X2.

The problem is that each camera is optimized in a different way and based on the DNGs I found around, so far the T's DNGs are the worst to work with.

OOC jpgs from the T are very good as are the X Vario's whilst the X2's suck.

But starting from DNGs, X2's are good, X Vario are very good but T's are not.

The most evident inconveniences are fringing and noise.

Cheers,

Bruno
