Advertisement Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Hi paulsydaus, Take a look here M240 in Oz. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Archiver Posted May 21, 2014 Share #2 Posted May 21, 2014 I saw that a day or two ago, too. Too bad I'm not in the market for one. It's a great price compared with just about everywhere else in Australia. And to think, I bought my M9 for the obscene sum of AUD$9300 from Vanbar in 2010. wheelie52 Posted May 26, 2014 Share #3 Posted May 26, 2014 Guys, just an FYI there is a great price on the M240 at Vanbar at the moment for $7400 AUD. Yep .... spotted that too. Been thinking about a used M9 but may go this way instead. I've dealt with Vanbar previously and have high regard for their service.

jrbelmuda Posted May 27, 2014 Share #13 Posted May 27, 2014 By the way, last week they sold their last 50mm F0.95 for $9900.00 sealed unopened!! They needed the cash for inventory I suppose. I have always had good dealings with them. I suggest everyone interested in lenses etc should keep a look out on their web site. JRB
Archiver Posted May 27, 2014 Share #14 Posted May 27, 2014 I'm heading to Hong Kong next week.Any tips on photo galleries to visit? I'll check out the Leica store too. Which is the best? Thanks, Paul I don't know about photo galleries, but Hong Kong is a magnificently photogenic place. Just the streets themselves are rich with texture and shapes. There are several Leica outlets, as well as camera shops that deal in secondhand Leica gear. Tin Cheung Camera upstairs in the K11 Art Mall has a boutique corner, and they had a full Hermes M9-P set in a glass case a year ago. Tsim Sha Tsui Shopping Mall Location - K11 The Leica Boutique in the IFC Mall is a standalone shop and has all the bits and pieces that you'd want to see. I haven't been to the ones in Times Square or the Airport, so I can't comment about those. Leica There is an amazing u-shaped mall in Tsim Sha Tsui that has shop after shop containing secondhand cameras as well as high end watches. One shop window had every possible Audemar Piguet Royal Oak variation known to man. Another shop had oodles of lenses. The mall itself seems pretty skungy and disreputable but it's still fun to look! You'll find it at the Dadol Hotel, near the corner of Nathan Road and Kimberley Road, opposite the Miramall shopping centre. If you actually want to BUY gear, rather than have fun looking at the shops, I would stay away from the Tsim Sha Tsui shops as they are often very tourist hungry and quite dodgy. Loads of items are grey import, but they won't tell you unless you ask. Other shops might do bait-and-switch games where you are given a grey import item when you thought you were buying an official import. The reputable HK shops that I know of are Tin Cheung, Man Shing Photo and Wing Shing photo, the latter two in the Mong Kok district. When I go to camera shops in HK, it's usually with a local native friend who speaks fluent Cameranese, which helps a lot. Other shops may be okay, too, but those are the ones I know of. You could spend hours wandering the streets and finding all sorts of stuff to shoot. I've done it every time I've been to Hong Kong.

AnakChan Posted May 27, 2014 Share #18 Posted May 27, 2014 Damn Vanbar's price is really good exp with TRS refund. I picked up my M240 from Camera Electronic for $7100 post TRS back in end of April and thought that was a good deal, this is even better at $6727. I question whether HK is cheap anymore for shopping - tourists from mainland China have been spending heaps and local HKers have little need to further discount - in fact in general prices (of most things) in HK have gone up.
