Leica T Firmware v1.1

Firmware v1.1 is now live on the Leica site for download.

My camera shipped with v1.0 installed, so I guess everyone will need to do the update once they actually have the camera. There's a card in the box advising you to do so.

The release notes contain little about the content of the new version.

I'm charging my battery now in preparation for installing it.

Firmware 1.1 fixes a bunch issues present in 1.0 (which Leica pre-installed at the factory before shipping to the dealers).

There do not seem to be any major functional enhancements in this first release. Let's hope for more later.

It's definitely worth updating straight out of the box though.

So nothing on the iPhone app stuff that everyone is ruminating about?

And what about the ability to have the LCD go dark? You know what I mean..?

I checked the iPhone connectivity and there's no change—still requires a pre-existing wifi network.

Haven't checked the ability to switch off the LCD but I didn't notice any change as I looked through the menu options.

Thank you, John. They still have time and here's to hoping they give these two issues a big fix up soon - before the 26th, if I've got that right.;)

I do not believe, that leica will provide another FW upgrade before the official releasedate!

Leica says the new firmware implements all the functionality as described in the manual, implying that version 1.0 fell short in that regard. There is no new functionality implemented. But then the manual already mentions an upcoming version 1.2 providing access to the camera via a web browser, so there is still more to come. (Not necessarily ad hoc mode, but browser support would provide a limited form of Mac and Windows connectivity.)

Let us hope that in any 1.2 update they add an LCD off option. Doing this might also fix the delay in the Viso switchover.

The problem is, how will you activate the screen? By tapping on it? This will very often activate the screen by accident. Or by moving the dials? I do not see a very good solution for LCD off and on.

Good Thinking! Although you could have a menu option

"LCD disabled when EVF attached"

This seems a good way to suppress the live view on the LCD.

But as you would still need to be able to activate it to operate the touchscreen menus, for example to change ISO, and when you wanted to look at some stored images, perhaps using the video button as an LCD on/off switch is the better solution, as Jaap suggested
