Odd Ebay listing...

I was mooching around Ebay searching for M9-P bodies and came across this listing entitled Leica M9-P Edition Hermes with Extras Excellent Condition. You will see from the photos that the camera is an ordinary M9. Looking at the 'extras' he lists there is a 'mint' 50mm Noctilux 0.95, a 28mm Summicron and a 90mm F4.0 Elmar macro!

Just for fun I emailed the guy (allegedly 100% rating and member since 2002) and said I thought the camera was an M9 not an M9-P and not an Hermes edition. He replied that he's not a professional and his partner told him it is a Hermes...

Someone won this today with a bid of £6700. The winner has either got the bargain of a lifetime or is going to be sorely disappointed I think.

Yep, saw that one too. I think you are right. Additionally, as you say, the seller was 'including all 3 lenses' including the 0.95 Noct. It's got S C A M written all over it.

Yes, this lot has an unpleasant smell to it. The seller's history shows activity in 2003/2004 and then a gap for 10 years to sell a Sony playstation and now this lot. Add to that the seller's reluctance to deal face to face, tiny photos that don't allow the items to be clearly scrutinised (assuming that they're really pictures of the offered items) and I think I'd pass or insist on escrow for protection.

Pete.

Oh crikey yes Pete. The old adage 'if it looks too good to be true then it probably is ' applies in spades here. I agree about the reluctance to allow collection and the fact that is neither an M9-P nor an Hermes makes it an obvious scam.

I suppose it possibly also might be stolen goods (not that I know or anything, I ‘m just baselessly speculating and don’t mean to imply that I do know). That could explain the lack of knowledge of the value and product details.
