M240 shutter count?

Recommended Posts

You can look at the folder you keep your pictures in to see how many there are, which works unless you are the sort to delete them to save space, out of embarrassment etc. which I've always suspected was a bad idea anyway, but now I know why.

Bad thing about that is every time you use live view or video the shutter activates and the photo folders don't keep track of it.

'Bad', is that better or worse than 'cannot'? So it's half a solution, is that better or worse than no solution? C'mon be optimistic, rally round, join the fight, the OP will at least know the minimum number of actuations the shutter has made in making an actual stick it on the wall photograph (potentially). All other 'actuations' for metering are made at a leisurely speed hardly likely to stress the shutter, and those for video are best forgotten about anyway.

Good thing about it is that people will stop being obsessed about shutter counts on their jewels.

It doesn't matter to me much, either... am I mistaken, or if worse came to worse after years of use, wouldn't servicing the shutter mechanism be a relatively trivial matter?

I think so...when the M9s were being sold in good numbers it seemed that shutter counts in the 5k-10k range were considered heavily used which was funny...

Seems about right, that would be around a 1000 pictures per annual holiday, all of them 'keepers'.;) By which time it's full of sand and they get fed up sending it back to Leica for a sensor clean once a year, so they buy an new Fuji (or whatever).
