pauledell Posted May 7, 2014 Share #2 Posted May 7, 2014 Hank, I admit it is a toss-up between the two, but this time I'll be different and side with the color version. Paul
tookaphotoof Posted May 7, 2014 Share #3 Posted May 7, 2014 I leads prefer black and white, but sometimes I come across a photo I can't choose between b/w or color. Yours is one of those. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

likalar Posted May 7, 2014 Share #5 Posted May 7, 2014 Color! Yikes, with the extra height and narrow wheelbase, how does it not topple over? Larry

Hank Taylor Posted May 8, 2014 Author Share #7 Posted May 8, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Color! Yikes, with the extra height and narrow wheelbase, how does it not topple over? Larry Thanks for asking track gage 3'6" narrow gage It is the only tram system in the world operated exclusively with double-decker trams, and is one of only three non-heritage tram systems in the world that use double-deck cars. They have been running for the last 100 years. They must have heavy weights undercarriage to keep them from falling over in turns. hank.
Iduna Posted May 8, 2014 Share #8 Posted May 8, 2014 Hank, great picture. The tram runs through Causeway Rd.. The color version is more appealing to me at first sight. The b&w version has also its merits because it emphasises a more historic aspect. It reminds me of old pictures when the trams was being built. I'll be going for a HK trip in late september. . .:)

Hank Taylor Posted May 9, 2014 Author Share #10 Posted May 9, 2014 Looking over my pictures taken in Hong Kong I came across another trolley car with passengers on their way to work. I could hear the familiar ding-dings as it passed me by. How romantic, I almost expected to see Judy Garland in a 109 year old trolley singing the Trolley Song. Hank Welcome, dear visitor! Iduna Posted May 9, 2014 Share #11 Posted May 9, 2014 Hank, a nice one. Once the Govenrment in HK wanted to abolish the tram service which failed because of much protest of the people. So it is now a very popular element of the excellent MTR service. We will explore some of the major of shopping malls, certainly. but our main concern will be hiking and exloring the environment with landscape and urbanity, covering both in pictures

What cameras are you planning on bringing with you? I myself have cut way back on equipment and relied on one camera and one lens mostly. But then, I'm older and not that much wiser, just older and don't like caring too much gear:D Hank
Herr Barnack Posted May 10, 2014 Share #13 Posted May 10, 2014 While I love well executed B&W images, the color version is my preference. Each version has its on distinctive flavor. The color version hauls the mail (for me) though.
Iduna Posted May 10, 2014 Share #14 Posted May 10, 2014 Hank, on my last visit I carried only a Fujifilm HS 20 and even with that I got quite nice results. But: I want to get high IQ now and I decided to load my rucksack with Canon 5DMKII, Olympus OMD EM5 and Leica X1. I'll take a few R lenses so that I can cover wideangle for the city and landcape with coastal views and forest also. Telelens and a macro lens will also be there. Whether I can carry the full load I don't know, the main thing is that you can decide later on which lenses will be a match for the day. The cameras will be mounted on a double Sun Sniper strap which is very good balance on your shoulder and does not bother your neck, For night shots a carbon tripod is mandatory, Then water bottles, raincover, lunch packet,.. Iduna Posted May 11, 2014 Share #16 Posted May 11, 2014 Hank, since we leave our husbands at home (working ) , we two girls have to be wise what to carry and what to leave at the hotel. One reason for the R lenses: they are so small (the Summicron 50 mm, the Elmarit 28 mm, the X1) . In this case the Olympus is ideal because the crop factor provides a long focal lenght. The Sun-sniper strap is really a recommendable help to balance weight. since I toured a lot with several lenses, so I hopefully can manage.
