wbesz Posted July 27, 2006 Share #1 Â Posted July 27, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just wondering what (international) shipping carrier Leica use when returning camera repairs? Â (I have just received a message that my M7 has been shipped) Â Thanks, William
Advertisement Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Hi wbesz, Take a look here what parcel carrier does Leica ship with?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
marknorton Posted July 27, 2006 Share #2 Â Posted July 27, 2006 At least for shipments within Europe, they use DHL which is owned by Deutsche Post. I imagine they use them for world-wide shipping too, mirrors my own excellent experience with them.
wbesz Posted July 27, 2006 Author Share #3 Â Posted July 27, 2006 They have sent me a tracking number that does not appear to register with DHL tracking system Guess I will need to w a i t - a n o t h e r - 12 hours before I can contact Leica CS. Â Looking forward to see the new VF in my old M7. Â Thanks anyway Mark.
marknorton Posted July 27, 2006 Share #4 Â Posted July 27, 2006 Well if it's not DHL, it's likely to be Fedex or UPS Â What have you had done to the M7 - new viewfinder magnification?
wbesz Posted July 27, 2006 Author Share #5 Â Posted July 27, 2006 Well if it's not DHL, it's likely to be Fedex or UPSÂ What have you had done to the M7 - new viewfinder magnification? Â Nothing bad. I bought my M7 nearly 4 years ago and so inherited the old viewfinder. Â After recently looking through a friend's current new M7, I could see mine needed immediate therapy. My M7 also had dust in the VF. Â Cheers, William
derek_stanton Posted July 28, 2006 Share #6 Â Posted July 28, 2006 William, i don't remember where you live: US or UK? Â I just (after 10 ridiculous weeks) received my 50ASPH from New Jersey. I believe they generally ship UPS 2-day within the US. Â Oops. Sorry - just noticed your profile: Australia.... So, i guess you're expecting your package directly from Solms.... In which case, i dunno, mate.
wbesz Posted July 29, 2006 Author Share #7  Posted July 29, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I might mention that Solms responded immediately to my enquiry, with DHL as the courier.  But DHL does not confirm the consignment number I have.  1) I guess Solms is a small town, and, 2) this is a weekend   Gloom
Guest hagen Posted July 29, 2006 Share #8 Â Posted July 29, 2006 No panic William. Each Leica finds its way home (earlier or later). I keep my fingers crossed.
marknorton Posted July 29, 2006 Share #9 Â Posted July 29, 2006 Normally, transit time from Europe to Oz with DHL is 2 - 3 days pus any customs clearance time. I'm surprised you cannot track the shipment but I'd say no worries, DHL are extremely reliable.
hektor Posted July 30, 2006 Share #10 Â Posted July 30, 2006 William, Â Leica Camera AG uses DHL, however this is expensive and DHL charges a fee to clear Australian Customs. Â I instruct LC AG to post by Deutsche Post. It may take a few days more, but with less hassles. Â MfG Â Justin
wbesz Posted August 4, 2006 Author Share #11 Â Posted August 4, 2006 Thanks for all you help in my parcel delivery concern. Â Before replying further, I decided to wait until the parcel arrived, which is today. Â It came as a "PREMIUM Paket" priority "Signature Required" Post, although there is a DHL stamp on the label. Â My original camera box was well embedded inside a LARGE box, super-packed, with 40.13 Euro freight cost. Â Being Friday here I am very happy to have my M7 returned for the weekend. Â The new viewfinder is great and almost appears clearer than my MP. Â Cheers, William

wbesz Posted August 4, 2006 Author Share #13  Posted August 4, 2006 Good news. DX coding is working? See you in Germany.  Regards Wolfgang  Yes, optical DX decoder works fine, thanks. I thought I should trick it with an ISO 160 film (Fujifilm 160S), but it detected okay.  I will bring it to Germany next month.  Regards, William
wbesz Posted August 4, 2006 Author Share #14 Â Posted August 4, 2006 I should have mentioned that this was my very first experience in sending a Leica product to Solms for service, and my experience is that of a first class operation, excellent!
