farnz Posted May 2, 2014 Share #1 Posted May 2, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Stefan (StS) is visiting London so I felt it would be a nice idea to welcome him to London along with other forum members (and it seemed like a good excuse to get together, have a coffee, beer, bite to eat, a chat, show some photos or whatever appeals ). The plan is to meet at The Garrick Arms on Charing Cross Road at the back Leicester Square at 11.30 on Saturday 10th May to give those who live further away an opportunity to join in without having to start out at silly o'clock. From there we'll play it a little bit by ear, depending on who manages to make it and how long they can stay and the weather but we'll be centrally based so there will be plenty of things to do. I thought that a leisurely stroll to Covent Garden might be a pleasant idea and provide ample opportunity for photos and to look at the entertaining street acts and eventually find a coffee shop or pub or a restaurant and relax some more. My mobile number hasn't changed but if anyone would like my mobile number then please drop me a PM. I'd appreciate letting us know that you're expecting to join us so that we're less likely to move off I'm looking forward to spending another pleasant day with some forum members so see you at The Garrick Arms! Advertisement Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Hi farnz, Take a look here Stefan's coming to London on Sat May 10th!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Gibbo Posted May 2, 2014 Share #2 Posted May 2, 2014 It is so annoying when opportunities like this clash with something you have already committed to and that is what has happened. We would have loved to meet up with Stephan again having very much enjoyed his company in Wetzlar however, we shall be at Boughton Hall near Kettering for the 50th anniversary of the Alfa Romeo Owners Club on that day. Hopefully it won't be too long before the opportunity to meet up happens again. Sorry Stephan, we shall miss you:( but have a great day guys!

farnz Posted May 3, 2014 Author Share #10 Posted May 3, 2014 Send tickets and we will come. No problem. I've sent two tickets securely strapped to the back of a postal armadillo* to you that covers you for walking and swimming from Melbourne. They're not dated so you can start anytime that's convenient. You would have been most welcome to come along. Pete. *I hope he doesn't get too amorous with a platypus and get distracted. lanetomlane Posted May 6, 2014 Share #11 Posted May 6, 2014 Sorry, I thought I'd already responded but evidently not. Unfortunately I can't make it as I'm at present in Seattle and my flight only gets back into Heathrow on Saturday morning. Hope you guys have a great time and that the weather is kind to you. Please pass on my very best regards to Stefen, I/we look forward to catching up with him in Istanbul. farnz Posted May 6, 2014 Author Share #12 Posted May 6, 2014 Thanks for letting me know, Tom, although it's a shame we won't be able to enjoy Eileen and your excellent company. Just so that you don't think you're going dulally, you did respond to me by PM. Pete.
StS Posted May 6, 2014 Share #13 Posted May 6, 2014 Seattle? This is a rather weak excuse... (). Seriously, sorry to miss Eileen and you, looking forward to catch up in Istanbul. Cheers Stefan
lanetomlane Posted May 7, 2014 Share #14 Posted May 7, 2014 Unfortunately Stefan I made a mistake very early in life. I was born in the wrong bed and have to work for a living. Enjoy London and don't let Pete and the gang get you into trouble. Cheers, Tom Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
farnz Posted May 7, 2014 Author Share #15 Posted May 7, 2014 … Enjoy London and don't let Pete and the gang get you into trouble. I don't know whatever you could mean. <Closely inspects fingernails - a little too closely perhaps - whistles tunelessly, and tries unsuccessfully to look innocent.> Pete. StS Posted May 7, 2014 Share #16 Posted May 7, 2014 I should mention that I'll bring my mother along. We will see, whether this avoids, or is beneficial for trouble... On the practical side, apart from my nephew, she is the only one in our family who is really interested in football, so this is covered as well, should the conversation turn into this direction... Cheers Stefan

Mixalis Posted May 8, 2014 Share #18 Posted May 8, 2014 Hi Pete, I will be there. This event had escaped my attention until Ivor Cooper pointed it out to me this morning as I was trying out a T in Old Street. See you all on Saturday. Mike
farnz Posted May 9, 2014 Author Share #19 Posted May 9, 2014 For those who may be planning to travel by tube to greet Stefan please note that the Circle and District lines are subject to Engineering Works - oops, I mean "Improvement" Works - on Saturday. Full details here. it's looking like the weather may not be going to behave itself so a brolly or weatherproof jacket might be an idea although from midday it's looking better and at Covent Garden we can be under plenty of cover as we turn the public into models. Pete.
