randyman Posted May 3, 2014 Share #42 Posted May 3, 2014 Mine looks a little like Luigi's... the "F" is pretty much worn away. I couldn't care less.
quadraticadder Posted May 3, 2014 Share #43 Posted May 3, 2014 That's exactly my point , it shouldn't happen in the first place it's supposed to be the Rolls Royce of equipment , and why would it take 6 weeks ?? Is that good service too for this premium product . Don't get brain washed by the badge. I've got 30 year old Contax cameras with all the paint and markings still on . Why defend shoddy standards. You've paid the highest possible price but never mind take as long as you like to fix this faulty camera !! Really . If you were in charge of quality control for Leica would you say this was acceptable ?? Rolls Royce? A Rolls Royce engine had a stub pipe blowout on a brand new Qantus A380 (flight 32) in 2010 that caused several components of the engine to disintegrate and almost take down the airplane with the flames and shrapnel. The control system was so damaged by the fragments they were unable to turn off another engine after it landed. Inspections found that the faulty stub pipe was in other operating Rolls Royce engines. All brands, all of them, have faults that make it through to the consumer. Even Rolls Royce, (which is recognized as a highest quality, no holds barred best-of-the-best standards brand), when making something as absolutely vital as jet engines, has faults. Is it acceptable? Of course not. It is inevitable? Yes. Does the matter require perspective? Yes. Best, Steve

jaques Posted May 4, 2014 Share #45 Posted May 4, 2014 There is no way the failing of the infill is caused by aftershave, lotions etc. It is just not well applied- or is a poor formula. Mine started falling out almost immediately and I use neither deodorant, or hand creams, etc. Having said that I really don't care at all... but it is pretty crumby. I think Leica cheaped-out on the buttons on the M- whilst I don't care about the infill on the info button I am more concerned about the white lettering wearing off of the black buttons. Mine isn't wearing yet but I am sure it will... I really think that lettering should have been countersunk and infilled and the buttons would be better made from anodised alloy instead of plastic... lenicolas Posted May 4, 2014 Author Share #46 Posted May 4, 2014 For the record, I use none of the products listed. I just wash my hands with soap a few times a day. (no antibacterial lotion either). I'm also more concerned about the possible fading of the white paint on the black buttons. sent from a phone with auto-correct.
mwilliamsphotography Posted May 4, 2014 Share #47 Posted May 4, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Small potatoes. The Leica DMR … now that was a problem … all the lettering would start distorting then eventually wipe off, and there were no indented letters left behind to indicate the control. My favorite was the Hasselblad XPan body paint which rubbed of after a few months. Of course, the issue is that if you position yourself in the marketplace as a "Luxury" brand and start adopting an "affected" brand personality in your communications … there WILL be consequenses from certain buyers when the details go unattended to … or in this case "go missing" …LOL! Now where the F did that F get off to? Maybe it's hiding in the bottom of the camera bag waiting for its' pals to also escape. After all, who wants to be under someone's thumb all the time? - Marc
lanetomlane Posted May 5, 2014 Share #48 Posted May 5, 2014 Can't be bothered to get up off my a**se and look at my INFO button but I do know my M takes great images.
