Yes i've been in contact with them aswell, and they said due to warranty issues they are not in business with the M8 YET, but that they working on a solution...and i hope so since this is the last thing i think needs a facelift on the M8, (except maybe a selective winder edition, like the R-D1, i really loved that feature, and it makes the camera much less intrusive/loud.. :-) Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

I wonder do they need to change a new top plate for the engraving instead of just engrave on the original M8 top plate. If that is a new top plate, the price sounds so reasonable. I would not be surprised if this was possible as well, but i don't think they have a M8 top plate without the M8 engraving or the red dot "slot" since it's probably machined/milled out this way from the factory, and if your asking them to custom make a top plate for you i think it would be WAY to expensive, but feel free to ask... :-) Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

scott kirkpatrick Posted May 2, 2007 Share #29 Posted May 2, 2007 Decorative engraving doesn't turn me on, but a la carte featuring of the viewfinder, so that you could get higher or lower magnification built-in without changing the size of the rangefinder rectangle would really be great. I gather that during the dark ages (1990s) you could do all sorts of things for a price. atufte Posted May 8, 2007 Author Share #30 Posted May 8, 2007 Got my beloved M8 back today, and of course the most important thing is, it's back to it's normal health again, and ready for work, but i think the small facelift also did some good... Now the empty spot on the top is gone, and replaced with a lovely classic "Leica Tribute Logo", it's feels right at home to see this everytime i'm fiddeling with controls, or just grabbing it from the bag... :-) Now i'm going to take a walk with my long lost friend, have a nice evening everyone :-) Welcome, dear visitor!
