Advertisement Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Hi Annibale G., Take a look here Reportage. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wda Posted April 26, 2007 Share #2 Posted April 26, 2007 Annibale, Why do you need a flash for reportage? And unless you want muliple shots of an event, why bother with a winder? There, I have saved you some money! David

Overgaard Posted April 27, 2007 Share #5 Posted April 27, 2007 A bag with M4 (21 and 35mm), a SL (80mm) and R8 motorized (90mm, 50mm 35mm), an external lightmeter, a monopod and a D2 if soem of it needs publishing same day. If I go far away I bring an extra SL body and D2 just in case, plus chargers for all motors and digital. If I do digital reportage, I shoot a LOT of pictures. Usually series of four and 90% of what I shoot is manual light. The result of such is that I shoot 500-1000 framens in a night so I have plenty to choose from. People in groups tend to close their eyes in one of the pictures, if low light handheld, series of 4 pictures (JPG continuious mode on the D2) usually ensures that 2-3 of the pictures are sharp (the first low-light is usually unsharp because you press the button). Lucklik Posted April 27, 2007 Share #6 Posted April 27, 2007 For my personal reportages I use M6 and M7, outside I use Tri Elmar & VC 21/4, indoor 35/2 50/2 28/2 and mostly with Tri-X @ ISO 400-1600 Because I use my left eye, I can't keep looking trought the viewfinder when I wind the film. I like the winder very much. else I use Digilux 2 and V-Lux1. rgs Luc

Summicron-M 35mm IV type [pre-aspherical] . Summilux-M 50mm II type . Macro-Elmar-M 90mm About flash or motor: I have no doubts: the motor!
earleygallery Posted April 27, 2007 Share #8 Posted April 27, 2007 Reportage is such a generic term, it depends on what you mean exactly by reportage. The flash is surely obvious - if you're shooting inside in low light then yeah, flash is a good idea. As for the motor, if you're shooting fast moving subjects maybe. A second body is probably the most useful, less chance of missing a shot changing lens/film.

When I shoot documentary work I take two M doesn (one as a back up) and 35/50 lenses. I have a Leicavit on my M7 and run the M4 standard. Losts of Tri-X and Delta 3200, a small lightmeter and maybe the SF20 flash. Maybe.
frc Posted April 29, 2007 Share #12 Posted April 29, 2007 Yes, forgotten about that! Thrid reminds me of it. Leicavit, it's often on my cam during rep. phot. Such a pity the grip doesn't fit on together with it.
