How many will sell theirX-Vario to buy a newT?

I may only consider replacing the X Vario, once I know about the performance characteristics and ergonomics of the roughly equivalent standard zoom and planned effective 80-200 mm focal length zoom. Although I am happy with my X Vario and M240, I sometimes miss not having a long telephoto lens beyond 90 mm focal length. My best ergonomic solution at the moment (for manual focusing and not having image stabilisation) is the Ricoh GXR plus 90 mm thin Tele-Elmarit lens providing an effective focal length of 135 mm.

If anything I'm holding out for an update to the X Vario now that we know they can do better than f6.4

 

Half a stop more is good but not that great thing. The other interesting part is that now it's 18-56 as opposed to 18-46 of the X Vario and there's a lot less distortion at the wider end.

The sad thing is that the goods do not come for free and based on the samples I could find online the 18-56 suffers a bit more in the corners and introduces sensible amounts of CA.

I have a deal with my wife. I shall be buying us a new T in black and if she likes her, she would take the T over….than she would ( maybe) sell her X-Vario, or maybe not.

Every little bit helps and since it would be a fixed lens perhaps it could be further optimized.

I find this question a bit of a non-sequitor

 

I remember when the A7 came out, some people said the RX1 was dead.

However it thrives, due to its unique combination of size, quality, subtitles and quietness

 

The XV is a different mixture but I believe its sufficiently differentiated from the T to have its own market. Certainly on price, build,shutter and ergonomics, etc.
