vcnt Posted April 9, 2014 Share #1  Posted April 9, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello  I have just purchased a used but in mint condition SEM 21 and have noticed that it is very slightly de-centred with the left side being slightly less sharp than the right side on my Leica M240 - this seems to be happening until f8 when the left side is then indistinguishable from the right.  The Leica dealer has been great and has sent the lens back to Solms for a checkup and hope that Leica can fix the problem - would be devastated if they claim that it is within spec....  Has anyone else had experienced this problem and have Leica addressed it ? - as I am very surprised that an almost brand new Leica lens has a problem like this.  Thanks
Advertisement Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Hi vcnt, Take a look here Decentred SEM 21. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted April 9, 2014 Share #2  Posted April 9, 2014 Decentering is rather unlikely given the way the lens is constructed, I would rather suspect an out-of tolerance mount or a shimming error. Check your camera carefully with another lens, it may even be that the calibration of the sensor is the cause. don’t worry, Leica CS is rather good in general. vcnt Posted April 10, 2014 Author Share #4 Â Posted April 10, 2014 Thanks for making me aware of the thread! Glad I am not the only one then but VERY concerned that this is a wider issue and that Leica QC have not spotted this. Â Did you get the issue resolved in the end?
