Thanks to some good rains last fall, we have quite a few Texas bluebonnets and paintbrushes blooming near Austin right now. These were on a hillside just across the road from our suburban neighborhood. Panasonic LF-1:

Thanks. It used to be illegal to pick wildflowers along Texas highway right-of-ways, but not because of rattlesnakes. Too many people were picking what were intended to be enjoyed by all, and parking in a dangerous manner . It's legal to pick them now, but most people don't. Even people who plop their kids down in a field of bluebonnets are being more careful now not to trample the flowers.
