BillM82 Posted March 17, 2014 Share #1 Posted March 17, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just returned from a trip to Abu Dhabi to get away from the constant rain in the UK. Can anyone tell me what is going on with my M9. I suspect a sensor problem because it appears using my 21mm and 90mm 'cron lenses. Do I need to get the sensor cleaned or is it a bigger issue? Is it simply condensation on the sensor due to the very hot weather there. Please let me have your views. Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Hi BillM82, Take a look here Sensor problem?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
tobey bilek Posted March 17, 2014 Share #2 Posted March 17, 2014 Condensation forms when moving cool to hot and is a known problem with digital cameras. If you are lucky, a cleaning will remove it. If it formed under the cover glass and over the sensor itself, probably a new sensor is required.
wattsy Posted March 17, 2014 Share #3 Posted March 17, 2014 I'm afraid it looks very similar to problems reported here previously that have necessitated a sensor replacement.
jaapv Posted March 17, 2014 Share #4 Posted March 17, 2014 This does indeeed look like the well documented sensor coating problem.
BillM82 Posted March 17, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted March 17, 2014 Jaap, And this well known fault will not be covered by Leica and will be at my cost to fix? If so, any idea of the cost? Holiday turning out more expensive than I thought. Bill
earleygallery Posted March 17, 2014 Share #6 Posted March 17, 2014 If it's a defect - and it looks like it is - I would certainly expect Leica to repair without charge.
BillM82 Posted March 17, 2014 Author Share #7 Posted March 17, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) It is going to Germany for maybe three months. Good service by Leica Mayfair. Will have to dig out the Box Brownie. Thanks for your help, Guys. Bill
A miller Posted March 17, 2014 Share #8 Posted March 17, 2014 As much as I love my M9, right about now in NYC giving up my M9 for three months in exchange for some very hot weather sounds like a good trade
