stuny Posted April 24, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted April 24, 2007 Brian - Â Once again you show us that the gherkin looks its best in partial view with more traditional buildings in front of it. I suppose there's an architecture critique in that statement.
biglouis Posted April 24, 2007 Share #3  Posted April 24, 2007 Brian, a shot which emphasises again that within a certain radius of its location the Gherkin dominates the landscape. It's colour makes it difficult to expose imho but you have done a good job here.  I am not sure I like that fact that it does dominate the landscape. I have started to look for views which tend to render it as an inverted blimp stuffed into the landscape rather than an item of beauty. From the East End, where I work, it really does look ridiculous (must shoot some more photos to exemplify this!).  http://www.leica-camera-user.com/architecture/3687-trading-places.html?highlight=trading+places  I really do wonder whether the City planners to into account when they gave the go ahead for it, or whether they just considered the view from the West.  LouisB
