Peter Lea Posted March 14, 2014 Share #1 Â Posted March 14, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, is anyone apart from me waiting for Leica to make an MP-style M, without the red dot, and with the word Leica in script on the top plate? Prices being what they are, it will probably be my last Leica, so I want it to be one that I like the looks of, as well as being the camera it is. wattsy Posted March 14, 2014 Share #2 Â Posted March 14, 2014 "MP-style". I dare say Leica will have something like this at Photokina in September or earlier (I seem to recall that the M9P was launched at a special event in Paris, though I think that was a non-Photokina year). farnz Posted March 16, 2014 Share #4 Â Posted March 16, 2014 Perhaps your wish will be granted at the event on 24th March. (No insider knowledge, just guesswork.) Â Pete.
Peter H Posted March 17, 2014 Share #5 Â Posted March 17, 2014 I sort of hope they don't, just because I find the perpetual upgrade impetus wearisome, especially when it's driven by cosmetics rather than function..It's as if digital cameras didn't have short enough life-cycles as it is. Â Mind you, it will look once no doubt.
Herr Barnack Posted March 17, 2014 Share #6 Â Posted March 17, 2014 I don't object to the "M" on the front of the M240, but Leica could have used a smaller red dot logo - or made the dot black rather than red.

Not a chance, Leica aims at rich people who buy the leica for show, they want the red dot to be as big as possible...
Jeff S Posted March 18, 2014 Share #8 Â Posted March 18, 2014 - or made the dot black rather than red. Â For $40 from DAG, and a few minutes of work, having a black dot is easy. About half that cost for smaller black dots for the M8/9. Â Jeff

Jeff S Posted March 19, 2014 Share #10 Â Posted March 19, 2014 Or a couple of minutes' work with modelling paint and a fine brush... Â But then I'd have to find and buy modeling paint and a fine brush, then stop being lazy, then hope it comes out perfectly. Â Nah, easier for me to send a check.
