rafikiphoto Posted February 13, 2014 Share #1 Posted February 13, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Has anyone recently received their MM back from Solms? How long was the turnround? Mine has been there for 3 weeks now for rangefinder calibration, sensor clean and general checkup. When I was making the arrangements they said 3 weeks so I'm wondering if it's likely to be back for an event at the end of next week. The online tracking still has it 'in repair'. Any recent info would be appreciated.

jto555 Posted February 13, 2014 Share #4 Posted February 13, 2014 While it might be too late for you to avail of, Leica do an 'Express Service' which is a two day turn around for an extra €200 plus vat. Leica Camera AG - Service - Fast & Express Service The catch is that you have to be in Europe to avail of it. John
earleygallery Posted February 13, 2014 Share #5 Posted February 13, 2014 I think you'd be better off phoning Leica directly and asking them.
wattsy Posted February 13, 2014 Share #6 Posted February 13, 2014 It's probably in a packing case somewhere between Solms and the new facilities at Wetzlar. More seriously, your only option to know definitively is to contact them and ask.

I have emailed the lady who quoted 3 weeks to see what she has to say. If it's back within the next 7 days I'll be happy.
rafikiphoto Posted February 13, 2014 Author Share #8 Posted February 13, 2014 I just received a reply from customer services. Firstly they have decided to replace the sensor, a bigger repair than expected (under warranty thank goodness). Secondly the repair facility is moving from Solms to Wezlar this week so there are no repairs going on at the moment. Repairs are scheduled to resume next Monday. bideford Posted February 13, 2014 Share #9 Posted February 13, 2014 My M is also with Leica and I have also been told that the move to Wezler is extending the turn round of repairs. Whilst not ideal, they have kept me informed as to progress so I will just be patient. Least year just before Christmas they turned around my M8.2 that was in for a pixel remap and other repairs in only 10 days. Suggest emailing for an update if concerned. I have always found them courteous and willing to help as much as they can. Hopefully the move to Wezler will make a big difference on the turn round of repairs in the medium/long term. bideford Posted February 13, 2014 Share #10 Posted February 13, 2014 Sorry Brain just reread your last posts - my comments on emailing customer service were generic and aimed at others that may be concerned. James

rafikiphoto Posted March 2, 2014 Author Share #15 Posted March 2, 2014 First class service! I suddenly realised that last Friday was a holiday in our region of Spain. I emailed Kirstin again and she pulled out all the stops and overnighted it back to me. Arrived Wednesday afternoon. Fantastic!

At the moment agonising about the combination of lenses to take. I will be taking my Fuji X-E2 for colour. I have the Metabones M converter for that but some of the Fujinon lenses are superb too. Tigger314159 Posted March 2, 2014 Share #17 Posted March 2, 2014 It took 7 1/2 weeks for rangefinder calibration in November / December and then another 7 weeks in January / February to fix the things they got wrong first time....
MarkP Posted March 3, 2014 Share #18 Posted March 3, 2014 We'll I've been without my E49 MATE for most of the past 5 months because of Solms' incompetence at repairs and checking work before it goes out. I'm still waiting
