The worst snow here in 20 years...so they say. This is Ginza on my way home from work this afternoon. M9 with 35mm Summicron v4.

Thanks to you all for the comments.

Paul, they weren't really prepared for this storm, but were lucky in that the following day was warm and dry, and the snow began to melt as soon a stye Sunday was up. There are still plenty of mounds of snow around, but in terms of transportation and infrastructure there weren't that many problems at all.

Col, I had to check that Mandler reference...I didn't know he was the original designer!

Peter,

Rolf Fricke formerly of Eastman Kodak wrote an interesting eulogy for Dr. Walter Mandler who passed away in 2005. There's a copy of it on this site somewhere.

On that subject, how much post processing did your pics undergo, i.e.is the 'glow' in your pictures from the lens or the result of post processing?

This comparison shows you much pp I do on my colour photos. The second one is SOOTC. I am using Lightroom 5 to boost the shadows and local saturation where necessary. The original wasn't bad, but lacked impact. I have a number of presets that I use as a starting point. In fact, much of the time, I desaturate completely, then add the colour back in. It's very rare - never, even - that I will use the exposure as is.

All part of the fun of digital photography!
