gilles_lorin Posted April 21, 2007 Share #1 Posted April 21, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Roses are in full bloom down here. We have a couple of Veteran's Honor which are absolutely gorgeous and I just took this shot after watering them. It is taken with a 90/4+ bellows + visoflex III at ISO 160 f2.8. I know... another flower shot... but I could not resist!

thpeters Posted April 22, 2007 Share #2 Posted April 22, 2007 It has to go to the photoforum. Personal I like to see that the moderator keep mor a closer eye on this, to many photos are in the wrong forum . Let we all be fair to each other. Anyway, the picture is great. gilles_lorin Posted April 22, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted April 22, 2007 Hello Theo, I intended the thread to be more a demonstration of the M8 + much discussed visoflex's performances rather than for the aesthetics of the picture. Please feel free to contact the moderator and have the thread removed. Gilles
thpeters Posted April 22, 2007 Share #4 Posted April 22, 2007 Gilles, Relax, if it belongs as an discussion point you should put it under the thread where the visoflex was discus, period. There are more members who have make complains about pictures in the wrong forum the last couple of months. I am not starting a big discussion about this. Have fun with your shooting, life is to short. Theo

biglouis Posted April 22, 2007 Share #6 Posted April 22, 2007 I don't even understand the exchange above - looks like a nature and wildlife shot to me and an extraordinarilly fine one. You have got the point of focus, imho, just right and I really like the colouration. LouisB
stuny Posted April 22, 2007 Share #7 Posted April 22, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Gilles - This almost looks like a confection, perhaps of marzipan with sugar on it, for sale in some place like Erice, Sicily. Lovely framing, gorgeous delicacy.
Guest guy_mancuso Posted April 22, 2007 Share #8 Posted April 22, 2007 Actually the 90 macro is a really sweet little lens that has a huge range. By itself a nice travel lens and compact than you can use the adapter to get close . Than take it a step further and get even closer with a Visoflex., than you can even add it to the bellows setup. So from infinity to a couple inches really gives you some great range with this lens. I'm glad i bought it.
Artichoke Posted April 22, 2007 Share #9 Posted April 22, 2007 perfectly photographed I also have been amazed at the quality of macros from the M8/Viso combination, though I have been using a 135 Tele Elmar for mine with a bellows the 90 macro looks a winner for sure & is on my (long) wish list
biglouis Posted April 22, 2007 Share #10 Posted April 22, 2007 From a technical point of view, is a visoflex absolutely required? Just wanted to know for future reference, is all LouisB

Guy, I used the elmarit 90/2.8, first version made between 1959 and 1974. As you most-likely know, the optical group comes off the focusing ring (like the hard to get 65mm) and screws on the bellows. But you are referring to the current macro-elmar 90, right? Do you mean it mounts on the bellows and focuses from up-close to infinity, therefore replacing the macro adapter? Is this is right, I am really interested... Could you post an example? I have been using the bellows/visoflex set up for small tabletop product photography, it really works very well, but I think i would benefit if I would upgrade the lens to the macro-elmar (which I could also use for travel). The visoflex/bellows setup is very convenient; I have the visoflex/bellows/lens all ready to go and mounted on a tripod in front of my table, and whenever I need to shoot an image, I just mount the M8 like a digital back. It is very practical. I also really like the fact that you can switch from portrait to landscape with just a lever. I have also removed the arm that triggers the shutter so that I can use a cable release. Next upgrade, as you kow, is the new brigthscreen which I ordred yesterday. Louis, There are many different options but only a three lenses will allow you to focus to infinity. The most complete thread is: http://www.leica-camera-user.com/digital-forum/17974-visoflex-65mm-m8.html?highlight=visoflex+65mm I wrote a thread on the system I use: http://www.leica-camera-user.com/digital-forum/19798-m8-visoflex-bellows-90-2-8-a.html?highlight=visoflex+65mm Let me know if you have any questions.
