French Leica on eBay?

My impression from hunting for old Leica on eBay for a few years is that there is much from the US, UK, and Germany, and some from Holland, Poland, Austria, with only a little from Norway, Sweden, Spain, and Italy, probably in that decreasing order. It surprises me that France features so little by comparison. Perhaps simply the eBay habit has not caught on there, but there may be other explanations, of which I'm not aware. Any insights?

The French don't do eBay very much. They also don't do Paypal very much either. I think that it is all a bit too AngloSaxon for them and they don't like that.

Also, eBay means that you have to compete - and they don't like that very much either.

If you want to look at the French market, then Le Bon Coin might be a better place - but beware, there is no feedback, no Paypal and no comeback.

About Leitz products in France :

This is coming from the fact that Leitz cameras were very expensive due to highest taxes import and seller percent add + some aversion to German products due to the cumulated conflict and wars.

I let marcg responsible of his deep analyse about French people... Congratulations !

I don't think that there is any anti-German product sentiment at all. I don't think that there is any resentment against Anglo-Saxon products either - but eBay tends to be seen more as a culture rather than a product - and I do think that there is a distinct resentment against the encroachment of AngloSaxon culture. This resentment is not among the young but is definitely present amongst the older - economically more powerful generations - including the Leica-owning class

Don't forget that the French culture is one in which Twitter and Facebook are regarded with suspicion, Twitter can not be used by journalists and the word "Twitter" cannot be uttered in TV or Radio information broadcasts, where until a few weeks ago, all radio stations were obliged to play a quota of 40% of their songs in French even though most French kids think that songs in French are uncool and so broadcasts in French tended to be reserved for late night low-listener programmes - and even then they were obliged to repeat broadly the same limited playlist tediously in order to satisfy the quota and yet have something which wouldn't alienate all of their listeners.

But this thread is already going off-topic - very seriously and very quickly.

We speak about old Leitz cameras in France... so I spoke about the past if you read well.

I think that by old, he meant - second-hand.

If I am wrong then I am going to take a bus to Drancy and shoot myself with my Luger.

Indeed, I meant second-hand for sale on eBay, but JC is still relevant in suggesting reasons why there might be less such stuff in France to begin with.

If not ebay, how does the Leica-owning class dispose of their relics, and where would one shop for second-hand Leica in France? I'm vaguely aware of a store or two in Paris, but if I remember no great inventory anyway, or at least not accessible on-line.

Thank you to both.

PS: as far as aversion to German products as a result of war, one would expect much the same from other countries. Yet the amount of Leica from Poland on eBay is considerable. It makes me wonder whether Poland is serving as a clearing-house for much stuff from other countries.
