Hello

My friend got two M240s and noticed an very annoying issue. Other guys M240 can lock firmly but not his two, please see below video...

I know it is quit annoying and maybe no one ever notice as long as the camera works perfectly. However, I just want to see if you have the same "issue" or not?

Thanks and sorry for the silly question.

I don't see an issue. I see it doing what it is supposed to do.

Thanks for your reply. I don't think it is issue too but my friend insists that it could be factory problem because other m240s are not the same... I have no idea because I do not own one, and my another friend's one does not have same "issue"...

Two questions:

(a) does the latch stop the battery from falling out

(B) do the contacts on the battery maintain connection with the contacts in the camera in actual use?

My guess is that the answer to both questions is a clear "yes", in which case so what?

OK, OK, . . . we had our fun. But now seriously.

My M battery is also loose. And so are the ones on my M8, Digilux 2, D-Lux and Digilux 1.

Most likely a wise provision to allow for heat expansion and easy removal.

Correct!

This is definitely a non-issue. Most cameras I own have the same amount of play (Canon 1Dx aside). Whether it be for expansion or just wiggle room ( :)) ) so the battery doesn't jam.'t would definitely be an issue if this were the lens mount :) !!

Some may recall the problem of removing film canisters from the early M7 cameras because of the tight fit caused by the spring loaded DX code 'reading' pins in the camera. This was remedied once the camera was upgraded to optical DX reading; there was then no need for tight physical contact between camera and canister. Before that, long nosed pliers were sometimes required........

So in some cases loose is better.

First, if it clunks during camera movement it might hinder sound video, but even that can be fixed by shimming the side of the battery with a little folded paper.

And, might his batteries be slightly off-specified dimensions?
