*JUST* got a call from my dealer and he had a surprise for me -- a corder carrying bag for the carbon tripod. Man, I'm all over this. it'll be in my hands tomorrow morning.

I am, of course, expecting a lot!

Regards, Bill

Post a picture when you get everything.

Yes! got the carrying case for the tripod today. It's Very handsome and of course Properly made.

Okey doke. Here is the kit.

In the first pix, you can see the requisite, leather Leica label. The case Very nice and, although there is no country source indicated, it appears to be a hand-made component from Cordura, Spain. :)

The second pic shows the tripod nesting inside the case. The case is about 23 inches long and the adjustable strap allows me to sling it bandolier style.

The third pix shows the tripod in the folded-up shape. One extends the neck all the way, then wraps the legs up and around the neck. This keeps the ball head inside the legs and makes the device as short as possible. Not seen is a hook at the bottom of the neck to which one can attach a strap to step on for extra stability. Nice. The neck can be reversed to take pictures at the millimeter level! Dunno if I can get down there, tho.

The fourth pix shows the ball head and some detail of the leg control. One pushes in the rocker switch at the top of the leg to select a locking position. The ball head has 360-degree markings. There is a 15-degree stop button (in the lowest knob to the right) which, when pushed, stops the rotation at a 15-degree point.

The large knob to the left controls the play in the ball head from loose to tight. The two knobs at the rear right are, at the top, the ball head lock and, at the bottom, the rotation lock.

Finally, in the fifth pix, you can see both the Leica id on the tripod itself and the well known Red Dot on the ball head.

In this pic, you can see the socket in which the camera body is secured. One attaches a 1/4-inch by 1-inch key to the bottom of the camera body (rounded edges). This sits in the recess at the top of the ball head. The black twist portion just below the top opens to the left and tightens to the right to grab the key fitting. It secures the camera quite securely.

All this slings over the shoulder and weighs, I dunno 2-3 pounds? The specs are there on the website.

Regards to all.

A very nice looking rig. Do you use a quick release plate?

This is Leica's version of a quick release device: a "key" that fastens to the bottom of the camera and that fits into the slot at the top of the ball head. This is discussed above in the material accompanying the last pic.

What may I ask keeps it in the slot. I am a RRS user and they have a quick release clamp. OOPS I just read your post and understand.....!
